Yasamin Shahhosseini is born in Tehran in 1992. She graduates at Tehran Music School where she takes Oud studies. She continue her studies in Persian traditional music in Tehran University. She performs extensively in Iran and other countries such as USA, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Australia, Greece, Cyprus, South Africa, Iraq, Tunisia, Qatar and participates in festivals and music residencies all around the world. She is also experienced in composition and electronic music. She teaches oud at Tehran Music School since 2014 as well as in many Oud workshops all around the world. She participates in several music albums and has recorded her solo Oud album “Gahan” (2015). You can hear her in several albums such as Daykato (Ali Najafpour, 2018), Ayyaran (Ahman Pejman, 2016) Salnameh (Mohammadreza Fayyaz, 2017), 3Ouds (Shahram Gholami / 2016), Solook (Nafise Gholampour, 2017), Nobang (Various composers, 2016), A January to the light (Hamid Behroozinia / 2013) Khayyam and Minimalbum (Pouria Shivafard, 2014) She is part of many traditional music groups such as Paliz, Avaye Tehran, Ahoora Daad, Tehran New Orchestra and Meta X (both conducted by Alireza Mashayekhi) Paliz, Oud Trio, Persian Quartet, Derang and Yarava Music Group. She has established a music research group named Pouyesh which is active in writing and publishing articles about Persian traditional music.

How and to what extent the social shifts, aesthetic reorientations, changes in listening habits, the emergence of commercial commodity music of all kinds have mutually influenced each other are among the central topics of systematic investigations of recent Iranian music history.
The intention of these three lectures with subsequent discussion is to take a new step towards a systematic investigation of the continuity, transformation and ruptures on the path of Iranian music from Radif to electronic music.

Introduction

I tried to choose the videos in which the artist contemplated sound and image in different ways. There, music, or sound, was not being used as an accompaniment. Music and image act as equals and the image makes it possible to understand the importance of the music during the video.
This style of making videos could be consciously or not. It was not important for my selection.

Biography

Aria is an examiner of sound and images. He studies the modes of power that enable the constitution of form to begin with. His practice deals with associative arguments and his work is a response to the context, in which it is emerging.

Baramant

Biography

Baramant as a multi-media art group was formed in 2006. At first, they were just a heavy metal music band, but after a while they decided to proceed the work with other aspects of art such as video art, performance, and etc. Baramant has performed and participated in several domestic and international exhibitions, festivals, and galleries. In 2019, they were able to release the first music album named “Homarg” on all music-streaming platforms. Hamed Babaei, based in Iran, Amir Khoshharf based in the USA, Hassan Sheidaei based in Germany, and Amir Pourmand based in Iran are current members of the band.

Sonata II from Sonatas and Interludes for Prepared Piano (John Cage)

Who dares to go unfamiliar ways and to visit unfamiliar places can find treasures that point to the future.

“Like shells on the beach” John Cage has found his sounds. For his work “Sonatas and Interludes” he fixed bolts, screws and rubber between the strings of his grand piano. This is how he created the tender, gamelan-like sounds he used to compose this piece of music. Everywhere are things waiting to be found, if you only dare to go unfamiliar paths and visit unfamiliar places. Old houses with overgrown entrances, fragile stairs, dusty attics. Whoever dares to search here will find unexpected treasures with which a futuric soundexperience can be produced on a traditional concert grand.

Christine Jezior

Biography

Christine Jezior, born 1961 in Poland, is a film producer, film director and artists' agent. In 1986, she emigrated to Germany. She is the founder of the artists agency KONZERTAGENTUR 2000 and the co-founder of the film production company MAAM.TV. She is a prize winner of the TV award "Trzy korony". Her filmography includes numerous documentary films, such as "I'll Play It For You" (1st prize at the "Kameraton" festival for best biographical film), "Ida Haendel - This Is My Heritage" (nominated at the "DocMiami International" and the "Jewish Motifs" festivals), as well as "The Case of Ivo Pogorelich", "Why Competitions", "Hassan" "Pierwszy dzień", “The Haendel Variations” (nominated at the World Music and Independent Film) and “Remember the Sabbath Day, to Keep it Holy”.

My work deals with concepts and artist researches, not only the science behind it, but I show a reflection of issues from it. To be specific, I have this fascination for interval humanized nature. In other words, my art is centered on principles of perception. It is about the way spectators perceive my selective perception. To this end, I use the elements of nature or time as a comparison with our contemporary lives. I bring multidimensional installations into a space and surround the viewer with my artworks, which mostly consist of multimedia installations including objects, light, video, sound and their individual components. Accordingly, in my room-installations, I create an interchange in order to convey my notion. Thereby, I let the viewer spatially experience my concepts in a new reality, so that they experience art through novel means.

Donya Bagheri Fard

Biography

Donja Fard (1995) is an Iranian artist currently living and studying in Germany. She obtained her bachelor of painting from the University of Science and Culture in Tehran. Studying Master of Fine Art at Hochschule der Bildende Künste Saar of Saarbrücken in Germany. Her works cover all areas of Fine Arts that deals with concepts, artist researches and the principle of artists selective perception concerning humanized nature. The artworks mostly consist of multimedia installations including objects, light, video, sound and their individual components which have been featured in different solo and group exhibitions in Canada, Germany, Turkey, Georgia, and Iran in the past seven years.

Free improvisation as an expression of an individuell freedom and fearless self-rule.

There are neither agreements nor signs, but regular rehearsals make the musical and aesthetic qualities continously possible. The plumb events raise questions, examine conventions, individual as well as social and develop temporal alternatives, which are unique and unrepeatable. This collective is international and cross-generational.

En Brèche (2017)

In his composition “And Life is Word-to-Word Breathing”, Ali Gorji has divided a text by Shirin Nowrousian into individual syllables. The individual phonemes used are taken from different languages, but they elude any semantic binding and develop their own physical and thus musical expression in the context of this linguistic expressionlessness. The short film shows a visual interpretation of this composition.

Tobias Klich

Biography

Tobias Klich works as a composer, guitarist, music filmmaker and visual artist. His interdisciplinary works often explore the polyphonic connection between hearing and seeing against the background of philosophical and social issues. Born in Jena, studies (composition and guitar) in Weimar and Bremen, among others with Younghi Pagh-Paan. His work has already been supported by various prizes and scholarships in the fields of composition, guitar, film and painting. In 2021, a portrait DVD will be released by WERGO in the Edition Zeitgenössische Musik of the German Music Council. Since 2018 Chairman of tritonus - Verein zur Förderung der zeitgenössischen Musik e.V.
